Chelsea – BATE
Chelsea welcomes BATE in a match from the third round of the Europa League. We are about to examine this clash at the Stamford Bridge and see what’s the situation with these two teams.
Chelsea is the convincing leader in Group L of the competition, having won its first two matches against PAOK and MOL Vidi. Both of these games the Blues won with 1-0, which was kind of surprising, considering the fact that the Londoners are a very offensive team under the management of Maurizio Sarri. But for one reason or another, Chelsea didn’t score a lot of goals in these two games.
The Blues hosted the Hungarian champion MOL Vidi in their previous game in the competition. The only goal in the game was scored 20 minutes before the end when Alvaro Morata found the net behind the goalkeeper Thomas Tujvel. At the break, the result was 0-0, which provoked Maurizio Sarri to put the superstar Eden Hazard on the pitch as soon as possible.
Of course, for Chelsea, it’s a disappointment to play in this tournament. The English club is used to participating in the Champions League, but its disappointing performance last season didn’t allow them to do it now. Regardless of this, Chelsea is one of the big favourites of winning Europa League this season.
BATE Borisov are currently 3rd in the group with 3 points, being on par with the 2nd PAOK, but having a worse goal difference. The Belarusian team kicked off its campaign with a win against MOL Vidi in the first round, but in the next one, they suffered a heavy 1-4 defeat at home against PAOK. PAOK’s Jose Crespo scored himself an own goal 30 minutes before the end, but it was all for BATE in this game.
That’s our look at the Europa League clash between Chelsea and BATE. Good luck!
